Janus Welton, Architect, owner of EcoArchitecture DesignWorks, PC. has over 35 years of proven experience and success in delivering award winning, creative, sustainable design projects by exploring solutions that optimize our clients’ aspirations, site, project requirements, budget, and style.

As a small, design focused, woman owned firm, we pride ourselves on collaborating with our partners to bring our clients’ vision to fruition from conception, planning, visualization, renderings, design development through construction documents, permit+ bidding, FF+E, interior design, and construction administration services.

With specializations in LEED, Energy Efficient Design, Passive House, Biomimicry, Building Biology, and Nature’s Geometry, we have a passion for healthy, sustainable, green design solutions.  We offer a broad repertoire of talent and resources for residential, multifamily, and commercial buildings.

About Janus Welton, Architect

Janus Welton is a Registered Architect in New York, a certified Passive House Consultant, LEED project manager, Sustainable Building Consultant, and Educator.  She combines Sustainability practices, Energy Efficiency, Building Biology, Biomimicry and Sacred Geometry in her Architecture, Interior design, and Planning projects.

She holds a Master of Architecture degree (MArch) from the University of Colorado Denver, CO, a Master of Science degree in Biomimicry (MSc) from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, V.A.

Prior to establishing her own architecture studio in New York in 2000, Janus served as Director of Concept Architecture for Sony Development, as Senior Designer for Walt Disney Imagineering, and Senior Architectural designer at Vito Cetta-Randy Washington Group Architects and Planners, all in Los Angeles.

Published design proposal, incorporating sustainable building materials, biomimicry design, water harvesting, vertical axis wind turbines and solar photovoltaic to create iridescent, off grid dwelling units for Fly Ranch: Concept Architect with Engineers, Lisa Wipplinger, Teresa McNulty: Sponsored by Land Art Generator Initiative and Fly Ranch- home of Burning Man, Black Rock City, NV.

2019           Biomimicry Global Design Challenge, Emerge Shelter Design: 

Emergent solutions for Emergency Shelter after Climate Disaster Sponsored by The Biomimicry Institute, Missoula, MT.

2013           Tiny House Competition, Special Recognition Award: Aerie House: 

A net zero energy and water, renewable energy home prototype designed with Living Building Challenge imperatives, Tiny House Competition by Cragsmoor Association, Cragsmoor NY.

2012           Living Aleutian Home- International Design Competition 3rd Place Award, Orca House:

A biomorphic, net zero water and net zero energy, renewable energy home prototype for Atka Island, Alaska; designed per Living Building Challenge imperatives. Sponsored by Cascadia, Aleutian Housing Authority, and International Living Building Institute, Seattle WA.
