Site Planning – Janus Welton Design Works

Belleayre Resort at Catskill Park- Masterplan- Highmount, NY

Surrounding an 18-hole golf course design by Davis Love, the client, Crossroads Ventures LLC commissioned a Concept Masterplan to include the five-star Highmount Spa Resort and the four-star, family-friendly Wildacres Resort adjacent to the state-owned Belleayre Ski Center. The masterplan featured two hotels, 259 lodging units, a conference center, spa, and organic golf course with ski-in/ski-out recreational opportunities and a variety of winter and summer activities.

Saugerties Solar Farm Concept, Saugerties, NY.

In an effort to redevelop the Kings Highway corridor and compete for NY State funding, the entire stretch along Kings Highway was proposed for solar in a Preliminary Plan and Rendering by the Town of Saugerties. The project proposed for Saugerties would occupy about twenty acres, including seventeen acres of solar panels plus access roads, fencing and auxiliary equipment.

The Holistic Health Community- Concept Plan, Stone Ridge, NY.

This concept Masterplan and Campus plan depicts the Holistic Health Community’s overall vision to establish a healing community on a permaculture farm. The components include a healing sanctuary, farm operations center, greenhouse, and gardens, eco cottages, and attached farmworker cottages amid short term lodging and outdoor experiences for overnight guests. Based on the living body of the land, various activity centers are placed on chakra points and symbolize the healing path of the community members.

The Mandala World Academy – Campus Model- Concept

The Mandala World Academy was conceived as a model campus based on the organizational plan of a sunflower mandala. The geometrical layout symbolizing seeds form a growth pattern of spirals according to the mathematical Fibonacci numbers- a metaphor for the biophilic journey and educational transformation of the students. Centered around a dodecahedron amphitheater and spiritual center, the students’ journey flows to twelve primary educational activity centers and back again to the center to process, share, and anchor their educational experiences. The water collection system follows the same path with collection at the main buildings spiraling back to the central water storage below the amphitheater.

UniverCity – Concept for a Disney Performing Arts Park, Anaheim, LA.

As a Senior Show Set Designer for Walt Disney Imagineering, I designed a masterplan for a new Music and Entertainment Park titled UniverCity. Set in the Disneyland parking area, backing the All-Star sports village, this concept for a new Music and Entertainment Park was conceived to capitalize on local Los Angeles and Hollywood Industry talents collaborating with local Cal Arts and USC film students to mentor the next generation of artists. The plan includes a backstage tour of the Film and Music industry, culminating in a new Performing Arts and Film center. Lining the music themed streets are Planet Hollywood, House of Blues, Hollywood Records Superstore, and ESPN Sports Bar, to name a few. Here, guests and students alike could be a part of the making of Hollywood Arts, Music, and Film industries in an immersive entertainment experience.

Greenhouse Lofts Masterplan, Saugerties, NY.

To initiate comprehensive planning between rural villages and towns, I considered the lost spaces in between, and proposed a plan to rehabilitate an old factory neighborhood into greenhouses and artist lofts. At the edges of so many Northeastern U.S. villages we see industrial corridors that have been left to rot. This proposal for special-use zoning at the edge of the Village of Saugerties would encourage residential infill uses such as live/work lofts, green houses, renewables, and green businesses. Re-claiming these forgotten zones can save farmlands from suburban residential development and help reclaim polluted postindustrial streams and wetlands.
